How to Make Safety Wire to Stop Nut Loosening?

1. Thread the nut on the bolt and tighten it.

2. Mark the position you will drill with a metal punch and drill a hole straight through a flat surface on the side of the nut. Drill it entirely through both sides of the nut and the bolt.

3. Thread a piece of wire all the way through the hole and leave several inches of wire on both sides of the nut.

4. Pull the ends of the wire together around the nut to make them meet at a center point between the holes. Using the pliers to twist ends of the wire together. So that the wire can prevent the nut from loosening, and the twist can stop the wire from slipping out of the hole.

5. At last, you can clip the ends of the wire off and leaving one inch of the twist.
