Friction Locking Methods to Prevent the Looseness of Nuts

Friction locking is a method that use washers, self-locking nuts and double headed nuts to prevent the looseness of nuts.

 

Countersunk head nuts

 

1. Spring lock washer

The material of a spring washer is the spring steel, washers will be flattened after assembly, its rebound force can make the thread holding pressing force and frictional force so that achieve locking.

 

2. Double nuts

The top action of double nuts makes the bolts under an additional tension and additional friction. Since it is not very reliable, and less used now.

 

3. Self-locking nut

The end of nuts is made to a non-circular cuff or cuffs that radial slit. After tightening the nuts, the cuff is swelling, to use nuts shut stretch pressing threads. This locking structure is simple and reliable, it can be repeatedly assembled without reducing the locking performance.

 

4. Elastic ring nuts
