Welding is to make two separate pieces into a whole one, the metal melt and mixed together in a high temperature and then cooled, the alloy will be added in the process. The efforts of molecular force inside, its strength is greater than the original one.

Rivet nuts are generally used for thin plate, which are embedded by pressure, the contact surface is a contact stress, and the strength depends on the connecting member and the mother part, the nut by the shear stress will be damaged if not have enough strength, and if the strength of mother part is not enough will cause plastically deform and crush failure.

Both have advantages and disadvantages, such as weld nut, it has the relatively large intensity and a wide range of uses, but the connection parts might be deformed due to the high temperatures, and not removable, and some active metals can not be welded by conventional methods, such as aluminum , magnesium, etc.. While the rivet nuts is simple to install and can be removed, and it is also easy to installation and transportation, etc.. Rivet nuts are also suitable for almost any perforated metal, but they can only be used in the connection of thin-wall plates or sheet metals.
