Claim staking is the process of claiming a section of land in order to gain the rights to that section of land. This type of service is a part of the mining industry that provides the prospector (a corporation or individual) the entitlement over the land. This is complete by having four posts with claim tags on them on each corner of the land that has been staked, such as northeast corner one. Posts are made up of trees or purchased claim posts. Once the claim is built it provides the prospector with the legal right to apply for the claiming lease that can be registered through the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mining.
